Smog, Tacos, Zines & Cardboard
Who here besides me is over this nutty weather and all the major traffic calamities? The LBPD is going to start cracking down on traffic violations, so be safe out there. No need to pay for any other violations other than parking tickets, right?

Smog City Art Show Call for Artists
Los Ruano is a gallery and studio space founded by brothers Andrew and David Ruano. They are offering a chance to be part of their collaboration with Smog City Brewery from March 31st-April 2nd. The event is limited to 15 artists so get hoppin’ (Hoppin’, hops, brewery… get it).
I’ll Take Two Chalupas and a Charcoal Stick
Friend of the Clout, Nick Zegel has been running the LB extension of the Taco Bell Drawing Club for several years now, and though spotty through the pandemic and busy art deadlines, the TBDC has been going strong since the beginning of the year. Bring a sketchbook, some drawing implements, and a couple of antacids.
TBDC happens most Wednesday evenings between 6-9 pm at the Taco Bell on Broadway (between Temple and Redondo). Check out the official Instagram, and stay in the loop with the newsletter.
Zine Printing with Mixam
Getting art books and zines can be a pain in the backside, either because the costs are exorbitant, or because you need to order an excessive amount of copies that will likely take years to sell. Through my own research, I came across Mixam, which is an American print company that provides quality products at reasonable prices and offers small runs on things like zines, posters, art prints, and more. This will be helpful if you applied to be part of LA Zine Fest and you need printing fast!
Hot Tip: Cardboard Corners
Anyone who has seen my studio knows that it is not the dust-free, climate-controlled environment that it should be, so I’ve been looking into ways of storing my art better. Do you know what’s expensive to buy from pretty much anywhere? Cardboard corners are stupid-expensive. I’d rather make my own.
Pop Surrealism at LBCG
Don’t miss your chance to get in on the action with your lowbrow and post-modern art. Long Beach Creative Group has their open call available until March 22nd, more details here:
