Artist Call - "Pop-Surrealism"
From Long Beach Creative Group. Deadline 3/22/23
The Long Beach Creative Group (LBCG) is excited to announce an open call for small works: Pop-Surrealism. Here’s an opportunity to tap into your rebel self and let your imagination run wild.
Pop-surrealism is often defined as an edgy kind of art. Originally considered “lowbrow,” it has now evolved into a reputable art style. Because it is such a broad style, we have divided pop-surrealism into six smaller categories: Surreal/fantasy, spooky, whimsical, comics, tiki culture, and graffiti/skateboarding/hotrods. These categories overlap, but you can get a general idea if you go to google images and type in pop-surrealism and the category you are interested in. For a concise history and examples, check out
Original works of art in the following media are welcome: painting, drawing, printmaking, wall-mount sculpture, sculpture, digital art, photographs, toys, and mixed media. Work must have been produced within the last five years.
